Sixth Annual
International Conference on Public Policy and Management (2011)
The
Centre for Public Policy (CPP) at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will
convene the Sixth Annual Conference on Public Policy and Management from December 28 to
30, 2011.
Theme: Strengthening Institutions, Enhancing Governance
The world today is facing extraordinary challenges. Many countries are witnessing
political revolutions as their people strive to establish popular, accountable, democratic
institutions. Questionable financial management in the public and private sectors has led
to economic instability across continents. Policymakers are grappling with the challenge
of establishing institutions to cope with rapid changes in demography, the environment and
the economy.
India too is experiencing transformative changesfrom popular uprisings aimed at
eliminating corruption to the paradigm shift to rights-based public policies aimed at
ensuring better governance and public service delivery.
In this changing global and Indian context, this conference aims to trigger a rethinking
on how institutions function and how governance can be improved. It draws a range of
scholars from different policy domains, and from academia, government, industry, and the
non-governmental sectors to share knowledge and to set new directions and strategies for
improved governance. The conference works as a catalyst to encourage scholarship in public
policy and is a multi-disciplinary forum where new ideas, experiences and solutions
emerge.
