Debt Management in India has been a concern for more than five decades and the focus, since 1971 has been on domestic debt. In view of the higher deficit in the last few years, stress on debt management has been high. In a number of countries because of the crisis, debt management has been rapidly rising in recent years and the issue of debt sustainability has assumed importance. This is a good time to discuss various aspects of debt management in India.
